Charges for manufacturing a controlled substance in Missouri

  • Intentionally possesses a controlled substance with the intention to produce, manufacture or grow any amount of it

Consequently, the felony classifications for manufacturing or attempting to manufacture a controlled substance are as follows:

  • Class E felony when you manufacture an imitation of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia or 35 grams or less of marijuana
  • Class C felony when you manufacture or attempt to manufacture any amount of controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana
  • Class B felony when the crime is committed within 2000 feet of a private or public college, elementary, secondary or vocational school
  • Class A felony if any person suffers severe physical harm or dies in your attempt to produce a controlled substance

Penalties for manufacturing controlled substance

  • Class C felony: The court can order anything from three to 10 years in prison for a Class C felony drug charge, depending on the circumstances of the crime.
  • Class B felony: A class B felony is the second-highest category, so charges are taken seriously. You could get anything from five to 15 years in jail for a class B felony.
  • Class A felony: If you’re charged with a Class A felony, tou can face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison, especially if someone dies.
