Can you encourage your guests to not drive drunk?

You are excited about the big party you are throwing to celebrate a coworker's recent engagement. However, you are concerned about protecting your guests and other motorists from potential dangers associated with intoxicated driving. Fortunately, there are things that you can do to mitigate the risks of drunk driving and to help your guests plan ahead to have a fun and safe evening.

When you begin planning your party, that is when you should start coordinating a plan to get your guests home safely. Waiting until everyone has had some drinks and are ready to drive back home is never a good time to try and make alternative arrangements. The more you plan ahead, the more confident you will feel about your ability to facilitate their safe departure.

According to State Farm, one of the best things you can do is to arrange transportation home before your event even begins. Additionally, serve a variety of beverage options, not limited to alcoholic drinks. This may encourage your guests to partake of other drinks besides solely consuming alcohol. Along with this, you may consider providing a good amount of food to give your guests other appetizing options that will not cause impairment. Never, under any circumstance should you provide or serve alcoholic beverages to minors.

If you are concerned about some of your guests, you may consider monitoring how much alcohol they consume during the party. With these folks, it is important that you do your best to arrange a ride home with someone else to prevent unnecessary accidents from occurring.
