Man faces charges after asking to photograph teens in park

As many St. Louis residents are likely aware, there are few criminal allegations that are more damaging in today's society than incidents involving children. This is particularly true with child pornography allegations, which are serious charges that can carry severe penalties if a person is convicted.

For instance, one man is now facing child pornography charges after detectives allege he approached two teenage boys in a park and asked them if he could take photographs of the boys. The police found no pornographic images on the man's camera, but they were able to obtain a search warrant for other memory cards held by the man. Upon searching these memory cards, authorities allegedly discovered hundreds of pornographic images, leading to the man's arrest and criminal charges.

The case above is somewhat unique because child pornography has increasingly become an internet crime. Many allegations involve online activity, such as trading pornographic images depicting children, and it is becoming more rare for allegations to center on physical photographs being taken.

In any event, no matter what factual allegations led to the charges, individuals facing such charges need a strong child pornography defense. There are multiple aspects to a criminal defense, including challenges to unlawful searches and seizures, as well as having a strong cross-examination of the government's witnesses in order to impeach the witnesses' testimony and poke holes in their story. A strong defense is waged on many different fronts, all with the goal of eliminating or reducing the charges and potential penalties against the individual.
