Alleged sex trafficking case in Missouri sees another guilty plea

The third of six defendants in an alleged sex trafficking case in Missouri has pleaded guilty. A 33-year-old man from Kirkwood, Missouri, entered his plea last month in U.S. District Court. Authorities say a woman was used as a sex slave for years at a mobile home near Lebanon, Missouri, where the residents allegedly held her and posted videos and other images of the woman online. Authorities say the male homeowner also let other men come to the trailer to torture the woman and force her to perform sex acts.

In addition to the 33-year-old man, two other Missouri men have also already pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges relating to the sex offenses: a 45-year-old from Springfield and a 51-year-old from Wheatland. The Wheatland, Missouri, man also entered a guilty plea to transporting the woman across state lines for sexual activity.

According to authorities, the woman was locked in a dog cage and whipped, tied up and shocked with various electrical devices. The woman came to authorities after a session in which she went into cardiac arrest. She was also forced to work as an exotic dancer by the resident of the trailer, prosecutors say, who accepted payments in cash and goods--including cigarettes and meat--for men to come to the trailer and engage in the activities in question.

Anyone accused of sex crimes in Missouri would be well-advised to seek the services of an experienced defense attorney to make sure that their rights are protected and that a strong case will be presented on their behalf.
