Missouri clinic owner charged with sexual assault

On Behalf of | Jun 26, 2012 | Sexual Abuse |

The owner and operator of a laser hair removal clinic in St. Peters, Missouri, has been arrested and charged with a crime related to sexual misconduct. The man, 48, was charged with deviate sexual assault. According to police, a customer reported that the man began touching her in places where she was not having hair removed during a hair removal session. Police also stated that the sexual abuse did not begin until after two prior sessions with the client had occurred without incident.

The man was being held on $100,000 bail. A person who answered the phone at the clinic indicated that the establishment was still open for business. The clinic’s website indicated that it has been in operation for nearly nine years.

This was not the first time the owner of the clinic has gotten in trouble for this kind of behavior, according to police. The man was allegedly charged last year with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Police allege that the man engaged in unwelcome touching of a female client, beginning after a number of appointments had passed without inappropriate sexual contact. The case was still pending in court in St. Charles County, Missouri, at the time of the man’s arrest on the more recent charges.

Unfortunately, many people are quick to assume guilt in cases such as this where there is allegedly a pattern of improper behavior. It must be remembered, though, that in each case there appear to be no other witnesses to the alleged abuse other than the purported victims. Also, it appears that the owner had operated the clinic for over eight years without any other criminal incidents, and in fact was still operating the clinic even though there were charges pending.
