Crusade against online crime heats up in California

Part of the difficulty in tracking down suspects of cybercrime in Missouri or anywhere else in the country is determining jurisdiction--that is to say, when a suspect is in one state but his activities cross state lines, prosecutors are sometimes unsure where to bring charges. But a new e-crime unit is being created in California to help investigators in that state mitigate some of those issues.

Former coach, teacher under investigation for sex abuse

A longtime science teacher and basketball coach in the St. Louis, Missouri, area is the subject of multiple investigations for alleged sexual abuse during his time at two local high schools. The man has not been charged with a crime, but in light of other high-profile sexual abuse cases that have garnered national attention, police are taking a close look at allegations that are just now being brought forward.

Missouri men sentenced on child pornography charges

Three men in Boone County, Missouri, were sentenced earlier this month to several months in prison on child pornography charges. Each of the men was found to be in possession of a computer that offered child pornography via a file-sharing program. Efforts to track them down were coordinated by a Cyber Crimes Task Force.
